Air India defaults on interest payment to banks
National carrier, Air India, has for the first time defaulted on interest payments to banks, company has dues of close to Rs 400 crores pending over the last two months. These payments are towards servicing a mammoth debt of Rs 21000 crores taken from around 20 banks. PSU banks have raised concerns that if Air India defaults for three consecutive months, the company may turn into a non-performing asset (NPA) on the banks' books.
