European stocks edge up in early trading

European stocks edged higher in early trading Tuesday, helped by gains for commodity-related stocks as oil and metals futures strengthened.

the U.K. FTSE 100 index rose 0.3% to 5,851.52, the French CAC 40 index climbed 0.3% to 3,917.62 and the German DAX 30 index rose 0.2% to 7,135.45.
