Markets gave up two session of gains and ended in the red following weak global cues and news of telecom probe. Nifty opened in the red at 5,530 and touched a high of 5,568 briefly in the noon session but selling pressure intensified during the latter half of the day on buzz of telecom probe against Dayanidhi Maran, textile minister and Anil Ambani, Chairman of Reliance ADAG (Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group). The S&P CNX Nifty closed down 42 points, at 5,550 and the benchmark Sensex was down 115 points, at 18, 494.
